Corporate history

1928October Miyoji Hagihara started the wholesale of roasted coffee beans at 5-8 Shironouchi-dori, Nada Ward, Kobe (former address: 620 Aza Harada, Nishinada Village, Muko-gun).
1938~
1945
 In the wartime and the period immediately after the war, sugar, dairy products, canned food, etc. were rationed in the district. In this period, Miyoji made efforts toward local community development.
1950 October Miyoji resumed his trade simultaneously with the resumption of the import of green coffee beans.
1959 November Miyoji opened the Osaka Sales Office of Hagihara Coffee at 2-41 Kanayamachi, Kita Ward, Osaka.
1963FebruaryThe Main Office was moved to 6-18 Shironouchi-dori 1-chome, Nada Ward, Kobe.
1964January Hagihara Coffee Co., Ltd. was founded.
The Main Office of Hagihara Coffee was renamed the Head Office of Hagihara Coffee Co., Ltd.
Miyoji assumed the post of first President of Hagihara Coffee Co., Ltd.
1970SeptemberThe Head Office was reconstructed to modernize mechanical equipment.
1975JulyTsuneo Hagihara assumed the post of second President.
1977 November: Hagihara Coffee Shop, the first directly managed coffee shop, opened in the basement of Bonesetters’ Hall in Nakayamate-dori, Chuo-ku, Kobe.
1980AprilA site was secured for a roasting factory (approximately 76 m2) on the east side of the Head Office.
1981April A lighting ceremony was held to inaugurate the factory on the east side of the Head Office.
The factory was subsequently completed.
1982 September

Manager & Planning Department Director Kojiro Hagihara (current President) made his first visit to Brazil, where he met Maneco, the cup taster working for Brazil Mitsubishi, and requested him to develop green beans for BRAZIL HAGIHARA, a PB product.
The Osaka Sales Office was renamed the Osaka Branch.
1983 November Coffee Club, Hagihara Coffee’s coffee shop, opened on the first floor of Sannomiya Moonlight Bldg. in Chuo Ward, Kobe.
1985 MayThe new, reinforced concrete five-storied building of the Head Office was completed. CI was introduced on this occasion.
1992AugustThe site (540.31 m2) for a roasting factory was secured at 4-10 Komagabayashi Minami-cho, Nagata Ward, Kobe.
1993February

A lighting ceremony was held to inaugurate the roasting factory at Nagata Ward, Kobe.
The roasting factory was completed (20 kg and 30 kg charcoal-roasting machines, a 60 kg far-infrared ray roasting machine, 3 machines in total).
Business started with a foreign (South Korean) customer.
1994February

October
The capital was increased from 24 million yen to 30 million yen.
Business started with a foreign (Chinese) customer.

April


The Great Hanshin Earthquake occurred before dawn on the 17th. Customers suffered devastating damages. The roasting factory as a whole inclined by 60 cm. Other damages were also suffered. However, it was determined to continue operation through emergency actions. Union Coffee was asked to roast beans for supply to the Keihanshin (Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe) area, and Caravan Coffee to roast beans for supply to all other areas. Coffee Club, the directly managed shop, suffered extensive damages and was closed.
Gas and water services were resumed. The emergency repair of the factory was completed, and operation was resumed three months after suspension.
1997 DecemberKojiro assumed the post of third President.
1998May

Un Deux, a directly managed coffee shop, opened in Hagoromo-cho, Nishinomiya.
Kojiro visited South America, and requested a local business to produce high-quality green beans for COLOMBIA HAGIHARA through Colombia Mitsubishi.
COFFEE STUDIO, a roasted coffee beans shop, opened on the first floor of the Head Office building.
2006 July The site (1,000 m2) for a roasting factory was secured at 7-10 Minatojimaminami-machi 4-chome, Chuo Ward, Kobe.
2007February


March
A lighting ceremony was held to inaugurate the roasting factory at Chuo Ward, Kobe.
The roasting factory was completed.
(10 kg and 20 kg charcoal-roasting machines, two 30 kg charcoal-roasting machines, 60 kg far-infrared gas roasting machine, 5 machines in total)
